Ranjit Bohidar, an Oxford doctoral candidate, can't let go of two unanswered questions: what happened to his father, and whether a sealed chamber beneath the Konark Sun Temple really holds a history that predates the temple itself, reaching back to the Mauryan Empire.

Chasing both answers pulls him into the temple's forbidden depths, where he finds evidence of an advanced ancient technology, a hidden fortune, and a different account of what really turned Emperor Ashoka away from war after Kalinga. What he uncovers also exposes a present-day conspiracy — one with enough at stake that Ranjit becomes the only person standing between the truth and the people determined to keep it buried.

Ambar Dwivedi

Ambar Dwivedi at the Konark Sun Temple

Ambar Dwivedi writes from Mumbai, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Before turning to fiction, he has spent years as a banker with the State Bank of India and a journalist with The Times of India.

He credits his travels for most of his story ideas — Secrets of Konark grew out of a fascination with the Sun Temple and the histories left unexplained by its ruins. When he isn't writing or working, he's usually losing an argument with his sons over the rules of their latest board game.

"If you love a story with ancient secrets and history retold, this is the book for you." — reader review
